Kate Kernaghan

Managing Director, Strategic Communication

Kate started her career in the NSW public sector where she developed a well-rounded skill set across communications, engagement, events, government relations and media. She experienced firsthand the typical pain points when working with consultants – including escalating costs, inconsistent quality, and high staff turnover.

Not one to sit idly on a clear solution, Kate decided to fill a gap in the market, by creating Factotum – a bespoke communications consultancy with a small but exceptional collective of experienced professionals. She committed herself to offering clients a one-stop shop that’s nimble, affordable, and dedicated to elevated solutions.

Kate’s favourite part of the job is the variety – she loves that no two days, projects, or clients are the same. She also loves the glimpse into other work worlds, whether its water modelling or blast management (just to name a couple).

Bringing people together to find solutions is what Kate does best. Whether it’s a contentious issue or a complete curve ball, Kate can help you reframe the situation and find a way forward.

Kate loves offering quality control commentary while her husband gardens and listening to a good audio book on morning walks.

Kate’s your go to if you need help with:

  • Contentious issues and problem solving
  • Reframing the situation
  • Navigating difficult conversations

qualifications

  • Executive Master of Business Administration
  • Bachelor of Sport Tourism Management

Tori McLennon

Director, Marketing & Communication

Tori started her career as a journalist before moving into communications and marketing. It was her move into agency work where she realised her love of working in nimble, passionate teams. She brings lots of energy to her work, her specialist experience lies in strategy development and execution, bringing creativity and versatility into it every step of the way. She excels at helping companies discover and deliver their brand voice effectively across print and digital media. Tori’s favourite part of the job is working with clients, and she thrives on helping them achieve their goals. Tori fancies herself a cat lady, a cinnamon scroll aficionado and a subpar hiker.

Nathan Salter

Senior Marketing & Communications Specialist

Nathan’s been working in communications, marketing, and media for more than a decade. He’s known for his creativity, adaptability, and efficiency. A solid listener and self-professed research enthusiast, Nathan makes the effort to gather full context to design properly fitting client solutions.

Whether it’s a digital campaign or a 300-page report Nathan likes to sprinkle some creativity into everything he does, finding satisfaction in the way a simple turn of phrase or a bold visual can elevate your message.

His favourite part of the job is the moment you send a great piece of work off to the client, knowing the hard work that’s gone into it. He especially loves it when the client is happy with said piece of work.

In his spare time Nathan loves to hang out with his kids and go for a long run (not necessarily at the same time).
